Here are some questions that we are asked often. Feel free to submit your own in the comments below or by emailing us.
Why are your services structured the way they are?
We get a lot of questions at The Line about our church services. It’s not that they’re bad. Most people think they’re great. The questions generally have to do with the service being a bit unorthodox:
“Why don’t I know the songs?”
“Why are we in a rock club?”
“Why so much food?”
In this video, we see that what we’re doing at The Line isn’t really unorthodox at all. It is, in fact deeply orthodox.
What do your church services look like?
On the one hand, we’re doing the same thing as the church has been doing for the last 2000 years in our services: preaching the word, remembering Christ in communion, responding in song. On the other hand, we aim to allow Chicago worship God with its own voice. Hence, our services are fresh and diverse: incorporating readings, prayers, spoken word, and food. Here are some examples:
How can I find out more about The Line?
The best way is to contact us personally. We are also available for more lengthy talks in homes, in home groups, in churches, etc. In addition, more information with regards to our background may be found at Harambee’s website (Harambee is our sending church), and the Acts 29 Network’s website.
What should I do if I want to be involved?
There are several ways to be involved at this time. The first step is to simply let us know. From there, we can include you on any information updates, gatherings, or pre-plant opportunities that arise.
Who are you affiliated with?
We are mainly affiliated with the Acts 29 Network and our sending church, Harambee. That said, we also believe that nothing we propose could be more novel or exciting than orthodoxy, and consider ourselves affiliated with the long line of historical churches wherever they have sought to shine the light of Christ’s glory and truth into the darkness and oppression of evil.
